The "chamber jazz" ensemble Dirt Stream II is "working" on Puccini´s opera "La Bohème": being aware of neglecting the vocal parts, the arranger/composer Andreas Mayerhofer tries an instrumental approach to the original material in six movements with a huge amount of improvisation. The music is breathing lyrical , impressionistic sounds due to the combination of reeds, cello, piano, guitars and drums in the field between european tradition and jazz. "Dirt Stream" is playing on the words of "Third Stream", which is the name for a music style, that came up around 1960, where elements of the occidental "New Music" were combined with influences of contemporary jazz.
