After receiving a 4 star review from the renowned jazz magazine Downbeat for the album „SOUL CHEMISTRY“ with Vincent Herring, David Kikoski und Essiet Essiet, Joris Dudli now presents “ASPIRATION”, a new release with his sextet “FUNK MODES” on the ATS Records label. Just like SOUL CHEMISTRY, the upcoming album presents the result of a „working band“, reproducing the live sound of the group as closely as possible, this time by a sextet consisting of exceptionally talented, new and established names of the Austrian jazz scene. The 3 vocal tracks, where Dudli himself, and his not even 18-year-old daughter Felice celebrate their debut, make this product unique and authentic!
Although, “ASPIRATION” can be labeled as extremely funky with a tendency to pop – Dudli’s everlasting passion –, another feature of this album is the dynamic range of the music. Again and again the sextet is exploring subtle spheres, providing a perfect mixture of rhythmic, adventurous on one hand, and aesthetically, elegant - playing on the other. Once again, Joris Dudli makes a topical statement as a bandleader, composer but not least as the driving force behind the drums.
