Wittinghof is located somewhat offside from Linz, the urban center in Upper Austria. Here, in the lower Mühlviertel, people gather out of pure interest in music and other forms of living art. Wittinghof means to me a place that I leave stimulated and inspired, a place that moves and motivates me, through special moments, to continue my artistic work. "Coming from Wittinghof", the composition that gives this album its title, originates from such a moment. It is a wink to all those people who feel connected through lively musical experience. We, Raphael Paul Meinhart and Manfred Paul Weinberger, met in 2007 during the intercultural project "Treading The Unknown". The Carinthian summer festival "Donnerszenen 2023" in Klagenfurt provided the perfect setting for our debut as a duo. A spontaneously compiled program of carefully selected pieces for the reduced instrumentation felt so coherent that it gave rise to the idea of a release. The joint preparation in the summer of 2023 and the careful approach of searching a unifying tonal language for our compositions finally resulted in the recording of this CD.
