If you squeeze traditional old-style blues with chunks of jazz and singer-songwriter and a good dose of self-willed interpretational treats through the press, you get a fiery red spicy „BLUES JUICE“ – the musical product of Frank Schwinn (vocals, guitar) and Nane Frühstückl (vocals, piano) – special guest Anton Willinger (bluesharps).
The two charismatic voices complement each other wonderfully and give the songs an emotional expressive touch. They put all their vocal abilities and facets into the music and draw the listener into the midst of the stories told, be it interpretations of old blues standards, popular songs from the rock history, or their own compositions. Furthermore Frank Schwinn’s trained laid-back style on the guitar combined with the solid piano riffs of Nane Frühstückl create a unique groove.
The duo is complemented by the optional virtuoso harmonica sounds of Anton Willinger who plays along on the album "Drippin 'Water“ at 4 songs as a special guest.
Paying dues to the sound of the old masters of blues like Robert Johnson, Rufus Thomas, Bob Dylan etc. in combination with influences from jazz and partly experimental fields the full-blooded musicians develop a completely new approach to the blues.
Special feature of this album: all songs recorded live in one room except 2 harp overdubs.

Frank Schwinn, born 1967 in Bamberg (Germany), started off as a teenager with self-studied singing, acoustic guitar and finger picking. Lateron he was drawn to jazz, which he studied at the Anton Bruckner University in Linz (Austria) from 1989 to 1993. After moving to Vienna he began playing professionally as a guitarist, which led to the collaboration with several major artists and ensembles. Among them were and are the Vienna Art Orchestra, Upper Austrian Jazz Orchestra, Dave Liebman, Bob Berg, Kenny Wheeler, Uli Rennert, Heavy Tuba, Harry Sokal, Herwig Gradischnig etc. After years of playing jazz and experimental electronic music, he went back to his roots and he began to play acoustic blues and fingerpicking again. Since 2007 he has been living in Ried im Innkreid (Austria).
Nane Frühstückl, born 1978 in Salzburg (Austria), grew up in a musical family with Austrian folk music. She began at a young age with piano lessons and eventually studied music and dance education at the Orff Institute, Mozarteum Salzburg, with a major in classical singing. She also studied jazz singing at the Richard Strauss Conservatory (2002-03) in Munich and at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague (2003-04). Participation in workshops in New York (Center for Improvisational Music, Brooklyn, August 2007) and Oslo (Realtime Music Symposium, Norwegian Academy of Music, August 2008) opened up completely new approaches to jazz and meetings with internationally known musicians like Ravi Coltrane, Steve Coleman, Ralph Alessi and Jim Black. Her love to blues music she discovered only a few years ago. She lives in Salzburg.
Anton Willinger, born 1956 in Ried (Austria) is a purely self-taught musician who played the blues harps from his youth until today, authentic and from the gut. Like many of the old blues musicians he plays music is his spare time and follows a regular job career. He lives in Ried.
