"Urban Native" examines the spatiality between dense urban culture and urban natives who defend themselves against marginalization with careful song forms. At the same time, these song forms are questioned by profound improvisers.
“Urban Native” is the current jazz band project by composer and pianist Marco Annau who already caused a sensation in the world music area with the Özlem Bulut Band.
With "Unconventional" Marco Annau presents the first song of the second "Urban Native" album, which combines elements from jazz, pop and funk.
The song, to which the musician gives his voice for the first time, is about compulsions of inclusion which then lead to projection. And it is about the desire for simplification: "as leafs are blown away, i wanna be a tree next, to a swimming pool"
