In April 1999 the orchestra started to work with Jack Walrath, one of
the most outstanding trumpeters and composers from New York, who
got famous through his work with Charles Mingus, whose Big Band he
was leading after he passed.
The tunes on the recent CD were written and arranged by Jack
Walrath especially for the UAJO, and recorded on a concert tour
through Austria and Switzerland in 2000.
Panther, is a Jed Levy composition in an arrangement of J. W. Sketch
No.3, a Charles Mingus composition that never appeared on a
recording before, Jack transcribed from a tape on that the master
sang in the last periode of his life, when he was not able to play and
write music in a common way.
